Hi guys just a quick question, can non-members click on member profiles and send emails to members via expression engine?

This is a question that could quickly be found by simply trying it, but the answer is no. 😉

er, sorry Derek… didn’t think of signing out and trying it… 🙄

Thanks for that.  Was only asking because I received an email from someone from the site requesting some info.  Since they did not give their name and I can only reply through my personal email account I was a little wary.

I see; well it’s always a good idea to have a bit of sensible caution, as registration is open to the public.  I certainly wouldn’t give out private or sensitive information to anyone from these forums except for staff members who need it to help assist you, or developers you have found to do work for you.  Though in both cases you would already have familiarity with the person.

But you can reply with any email account you wish.  Anonymity from EE’s email console leans on the side of the recipient.  The sender’s address is revealed, but never the recipient, so you could always reply to the email from another one of your email accounts.

Thanks Derek.  It’s not personal info they are asking for.  Still it had me a little concerned since the only other emails I’ve had from this site always had a name attached and I was expecting the contact.

Good to know they do not have my private email.  I can reply on another email address that is already ‘public’ and receives so much spam that it really doesn’t matter.
