    Hi,

    I have registered about 300 members from our previous site’s emailing list to our new EE site.  I want to send them an email inviting them to our new site and telling them their user name and asking them to click the “Forgot Password” link in order to create a new password.  However, most of the EE tags don’t seem to work if you just put them in the Message Box on the Communicate page in the CP:

    Example message:

    Dear {name},

    You are receiving this email because you are a member of Rangatira Alpine Sports Club Inc. or you have registered on the newsletter list on the previous website at some point in time.

    We are please to announce the launch of a great new website which we hope will promote user interaction. The site is easier to navigate and easier to update so we can keep you informed about CLub activities.

    You have been pre-registered as a site member with the user-name:  {unwrap}{username}{/unwrap}

    To set your password visit this link: {unwrap}http://www.rangatira.org/index.php/member/forgot_password/{/unwrap} and enter your email address: {unwrap}{email}{/unwrap} then click Submit. Check your email after a few minutes and follow the instructions sent to reset your password (check your spam folder if you don't receive an email).

    Click here to view the new site {unwrap}{site_url}{/unwrap}.

    Click this link to view an introductory article describing some of the features of the new site {unwrap}http://www.rangatira.org/index.php/article/rangatiras_new_site/{/unwrap}

    Once logged in, you can change your settings in the "My Account" if you do not wish to receive any emails from Rangatira in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Can this be done? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Main problem solved.

    I just realised that it’s not as bad as I thought.  Reading other threads I got the impression that I needed to let people know their username to reset their password, or at least to login once their password is reset.  However, I see that all they need is their email address which is the one that the introductory email is sent to.  Once they click on the “Forgot Password” link on the website they will be emailed their username and password.

    I can proceed to invite my 300 to log on 😊
