I came across a tip that totally made my day yesterday. Last week sometime I updated a number of the things on my MBP and in doing so I updated safari 3 beta to version 3.0.3 beta. With Saft that is a mistake and I wish I would’ve caught it at the time. So yesterday out of sheer frustration I searched for a quick fix and found it in the comments of Saft 9.0b4 at VersionTracker.com. A german fellow going by the name kopflos offered this tip to get Saft 9.0b4 to work with Safari 3.0.3:
Go to /Library/InputManagers/Saft and show package content of Saft.bundle via context menu (I hope this is the correct menu item in english). Go to Contents and edit the Info.plist. Look for SaftSupportedSafariBuild and add a new array with a string with the value 522.12.1 Save the file and restart Safari. Now Saft will load correctly. This works for me from the first day of Safari 3.0.3 (now this will be 5 or 6 days).
I tried it and it worked perfectly. If your like me and can’t use safari on daily basis without Saft, you’ll want to do this. I’m not sure why it works but I’m just glad it does. 😊
