I’m in the midst of designing a community involved website for the citizens of my county. I know ExpressionEngine is able to handle what I want to accomplish, but I’m just looking for some pointers from people who may have experience or knowledge to get the best results.

The goal is to allow citizens/users to register and submit articles, events, photographs, etc. All content will be moderated and be added by editors. I’d like to create my own forms for the member signup and submissions, and use the control panel to moderate them.

Any hints, tips, suggestions, etc. will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks gang.

I wouldn’t add your own registration, there are no official “stand alone registration forms” - but you can edit the member profile templates to look very nice, by just modifying the global templates and CSS.  They look daunting but they’re really not that bad.

You can use the Stand Alone Entry Form for the weblog entries.

What other kind of information do you want? YOu might get more responses if you let us know some of the features you’re after. =)
