    The User guide says
“A good strategy is to make a copy of the entire default templates folder, then edit your copy so you can leave the default files intact. In your Membership Preferences page you can set your new copy as the site default.”

However I see no mechanism for setting the default. Do I simply change the folder names?

You would create the new folder as stated, and then change the theme here:

Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Membership Preferences

    Okay, that was a Duh.

But now I’ve uploaded a folder with a change to the Profile Form, set the permissions to 777, and selected the new theme, but my changes do not appear.

In fact, I was experiementing with the default templates and was able to make some changes, then the changes stopped having any effect. Now changes in either theme have no effect.

The “Member Profile Form” is what shows on the Edit Profile screen, right?

    What else have I overlooked?

Not only can I not edit member templates, but the custom profile fields are not behaving properly. My width settings are being ignored and fields marked as required are not being required.

    Please help.
