    Hi,

I hope this not a FAQ already, but I can’t find any info about searching across multiple sites. I assume this is possible? But is it also possible to search on specific fields shared by all sites? For example, if each site has a ‘company’ weblog with company information, containing a ‘city’ field, can any site pull up a list of companies from that city, regardless of its origin? If not, is there another way of doing this, perhaps having the data stored in asingle weblog, then searched using site-specific results templates?

    Hello, zack -

The search module does not currently search multiple sites.  You can read some very enlightening reasons as to the difficulties involved in that in this thread if you’re technically inclined.

You could do this using dynamic paramters and the weblog entries tag in your particular example, and there may be other ways to do it as well. The MSM is fairly new so we’re only just beginning to see the beginning’s of the community’s ingenuity with it. =)

    Thanks Lisa,

That’s too bad. Are there any workarounds that don’t involve unsupported hacks? For example I guess the search form on each site could point to the master site - is there any way of displaying site-specific search results templates? Or some other way of giving the appearance of site-wide search?

Otherwise, add my vote to the feature request!
