Hey everyone, I have over the last couple of days been working with the Simple Commerce module, and I am actually enjoying it heaps!

Not that I don’t enjoy the other modules, but I am quite impressed with how easy it is to set up a shop to do just what i want it to do. At first it all seemed quite a round about way to go about things, but having worked with it, I can see that it actually makes sense.

I’m using quite a bit of custom code to control the products, so that my client adds a product from a saef on the front-end, and it also sorts out the commerce stuff, which actually works really neat.

So I just thought I would post here to say that I am impressed with it, so well done to the creators, and also to see what other people think to it and how they have integrated it into their sites 😊 Any examples of it? My mind is beginning to conjure up ideas of the potential, but it would be cool to see what other ways it could go and how far it is possible to actually take it :D

I’m just about to dive into Simple Commerce. Is there anywhere you recommend I visit before I do? Any tips?

Unfortunately I haven’t seen any sites which discuss this in a good amount of detail, I just used the docs to work out what to do, and then looked at the database to work out what was happening behind the scenes.

At first it seemed like a really round about way to do things, having to add a blog entry, then having to go to the simple commerce module to put it into the shop. While it is in fact a round about way, it is handy having the simple commerce side of things completely seperate from the blog entry. And by writing a custom form for the front-end of the website, it is possible to add an item to the db, AND insert it into simple commerce at the same time.

You also have the option of changing the member group when a user purchases something, handy for user registrations, and email templates for both the user and the admin are handy too.

I recommend reading through the docs thoroughly, as it was a great help to me. If you have any questions when you start to get into it, feel free to ask.

Hey, I like your idea about the custom form to create store items. I’m just taking my first run at a store with simple commerce.

Did you use a saef or did you create an actual html form? Any pointers for going about this? Chances of posting samples?
