    Quick question..

has anyone used “Simple Commerce Module”, and/or is there another module you would recommend for a shopping cart? The site has allot of products and one of the basic needs of the cart system is that it be easily searched. Also we will need to be able to browse and drill down the products easily.

Most of these sites right now use a folder like menu…

So whats the verdict EE + Shopping Cart = win/loss?

I take it I am not asking the question right, or the words “shopping cart” are scaring everyone away…

To “rephrase” the question: Is the Simple Commerce Module something that can be built upon to have a more advanced commerce solution, or is there another free/commercial module available.

The simple commerce is really just that - it’s a simple payment gateway to Paypal.  You can certainly build a shopping cart with it - each entry is an item for sale, and so since those are weblog entries, they’re entirely searchable.  The drill-down could be handled via categories.  Of course, this is only if you’re willing to use Paypal as your commerce solution.

There is a full commerce module in development but there is no ETA or feature list as yet.  There are hints around the devblog and the forums but that’s about it at this time =)

Hey thanks for the info. I like the idea of item = entry, but I need to be able to tie it into whatever I want. I will see what is involved in hacking it to work, I was just hoping someone had already given it a shot 😉

Yes.  I didn’t answer at first because you were asking for examples/community suggestions.  But after your bump I did want to at least get you some sort of answer. =)
