I am having an issue updating from 1.5.2 to 1.6 on one of my installs of EE. I followed all of the update instructions exactly but I am getting an error when I click on “Update from Version 1.5.2 to Version 1.6” on the update.php page. The error goes like this (full paths omitted):

Notice: Undefined variable: conf in ../update.php on line 58

Warning: main(./db/db..php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in ../update.php on line 58

Warning: main(./db/db..php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in ../update.php on line 58

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘./db/db..php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php-4.4.7-1/share/pear’) in ../update.php on line 58

A couple of times I have tried re-uploading the original files and starting the process from the beginning just to make sure that I didn’t make a mistake and I still get the same results…

FYI: Last weekend I updated another install of EE from 1.5.2 to 1.6 without any problems at all (and it was on this same server).

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ryan, are you using the build that came out a few hours ago, or an earlier build?

How about your config.php file? Is it still there, or was it overwritten?

It was Build 20070626 which I downloaded about an hour or two before my initial post.

Yes, my config.php keeps getting overwritten with a blank one.

Howdy, Ryan.  Our apologies for this, it has now been fixed, so if you can download the files again you should be able to proceed.  Derek’s explanation is here.

As a note, if you do not have a backup of config.php - thought it sounds like you do - config_bak.php should be a usable backup of the config.php.
