I’m look for some way to provide my readers with the “hottest” posts on my blog for a given day.  Something that will either gauge the number of hits a posts is getting and then display the pages with the mosts hits in the last day in a “top ten” list, or failing that something that will allow my readers to vote on a post for the same sort of display on a list.

Anyone have any answers?

Solspace do a ratings and a favourites module. the ratings one would prob fit your bill. Rob1n has also done a post on rating stars.

Why not use track_views and {view_count} for this?

I would think that you could tie that in with some PHP in your start_on parameter to display “today’s top ten posts”.
