    Hi,

I already worked with EE a while back ago and I have a new client now who wants to have a website for his clients.

They want a “normal”, multi-language website to give an overview of their offering nut they also want to give every new customer a personal login.

This login is meant for a personal page for each customer. They want to give the customer a central hub to send them info about status updates, upload specific files, a calendar with planed dates and an option to send messages to their customers (not via email but messages that appear on their private page when they log in) Every time they update a users page they want to automatically send out an email informing the customer that their private page has been updated.

The customers should not have access to the EE dashboard.

Anyone who could point me in the right direction firstly if something like this possible and secondly what plugins would be suggested to get this done?

Already looked for Zoo:Visitor and Profile:Edit. But I don’t know if these plugins would do the trick - especially with the automatic email to ONE specific user when their profile has been updated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Cheers
    Duffy

No one who could give me an advice here?

My biggest concern is investing all that money to buy EE + plugins only to find out that I can’t build what my customer is asking for.

    Thanks,
    Duffy

The challenge is what you are asking would probably take 4-5 hours of thinking about, evaluating different EE add-ons, and finding gaps that would need custom work.

How many customers are we talking here? Member groups accommodate a lot of extranet type functionality, so if you are talking 30 customers that might be do-able with one member per group.

But if you have 500 members, each with their own extranet? That’s pushing EE quite a bit.  You might get there but it’ll be a mix of native functionality, 3rd party work, and custom add-ons.

If it were me and the client was willing to fund custom work, or building incrementally I’d go for it.

If they wanted an all-inclusive quote up front and it all had to be done with existing add-ons, I’d pass.

    Hi there.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Not sure about the number of clients as they are starting their business right now but what to have the solution up an running for their first clients. Might be less than 30 at a time - but they are not sure.

And yes - they want a quote up front. :(

I’m currently looking into other CMS. Wordpress has a few plugins that might do the trick but I haven’t worked with WP before.

There is a huge price difference between EE + plugins and WP + plugins so they want to know what the whole solution would cost.

Anyway - thanks for the help!

    Cheers,
    Duffy
