    I’ve tried to upgrade an older install - v.2.5.2 to v.2.9.0. Everything went well until the very last step - converting from 2.8.1 to 2.9.0 when the Ajax progress bar shows up. It just hangs before getting any progress on that bar, there’s no error, no unsolved request showing up with Developer Tools, nothing. I even left it ‘running’ for hours and nothing happens. Deleting the installer as if the process has finished leaves me with v.2.8.1 and a developer alert that there a version mismatch.

    I’m stuck at v.2.8.1 and can’t seem to upgrade any further. I even tried the v.2.9.2 package with the same results.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Have you checked to see if you’re running the required version of PHP on your server?

    I did. The server is running v.5.3.26.

    I recently upgraded a site from 2.5.5 to 2.9.0
    I did it in 2 steps by upgrading to 2.8.1 first - then checked everything was working and updated all Extensions - and then did the upgrade to 2.9.0 as a separate step.

    I had the same issue here upgrading from 2.8.1 to 2.9.2.

    In my case it was because I’m usine Focus Labs’ EE Master Config. Following Notacouch’s tip on the “Updating ExpressionEngine 2 page”, I had to set

    $config[‘app_version’] = “”;

    In order for the installer to proceed.

    Update: Or not. Now I’m getting “Error Number: 1060: Duplicate column” because now it thinks my database is out-of-date.

    Following. Same issue here. Upgrade from 2.5.2 to 2.8.1 worked, can’t get further.
