Is there a way to disable publishing of an entry for a certain member group and only allow editing of existing entries? This would need to work across MSM sites. If anyone’s got any ideas I’d be grateful.

    Cheers!

You explored the setup of a member group and the different permissions you can assign to them?

Is there a choice somewhere to edit only own entries? What I see is you can set group members to be able to edit all entries authored by others. but what about closing publishing yet be able to edit own entries only afterwards?

You know what, in all my time working with EE I’ve seen that Publish/Edit option in member groups admin but never really noticed it!

Another question though, is it possible to do this but only for a certain channel, so a member group can publish or edit in one channel but only edit in another?

Permissions get down to the Channel level but assume a member could both Publish and Edit in the same channel.

Makes sense - if you allow editing they could basically overwrite the entire entry creating what amounts to a new one.

And yes you can set permissions to allow members to only edit their own entries - if you review the options on the member group setup page it’s all spelled out.

Basically just experiment with the offered settings and some test logins to see if you can configure it to your needs.
