Problem with regex in template route

Using EE 2.8. Vanilla install. No add-ons.

The following regex is flagged as invalid in the CP as template route
```
blog/archive/{year:regex[([0-9]{4})]}
```
Unless I am missing something, this should be valid as per the docs. Can you guys reproduce on your end and confirm this is indeed happening or correct my syntax ?
