I am looking for recommendations for E-commerce add-ons for ExpressionEngine. I sell software, so I want to facilitate downloads when I customer buys something. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are 3 main ecommerce addons (and of course the Native Simple Commerce module):
http://cartthrob.com/ - is more of a platform so you can build your own cart and checkout system however you want it to work
http://www.brilliantretail.com/ - a standalone cart system
https://exp-resso.com/ - integrates using a custom channel field
...all support digital products so I suggest you have a read through their specs to see which may be the best fit for your project.
