I just went through an ordeal to update to 2.7.1 and, if possible, I’d like to avoid all of that again. Since the bug fixes aren’t so important to me, can I manually update code somewhere to apply the security fix? (Addressed a security issue where XIDs may not invalidate properly.) Is there a bug thread that I can reference on that? Thank you.

I second this.
If this is just a patch we shouldn’t have to go through all the carp that attends a more legitimate update. This is the kind of thing an auto-installer would be really good for.
