I am building my website and the ecommerce front on EE and expresso store.

I would like to host this on the EC2 amazon. Is there a guide which allows me to put it there and how do I go about the installation?

I will be using a micro instance t1.micro for EE as initially my traffic is going to be low. Later can shift it to t1.medium or something.

Please advice if ec2 is the way for a good hosting provider as I am spending close to 15$ /mo or can I use something cheaper.

    Welcome to the forums!

I’ve never used Amazon for hosting so can’t help that much, it does seem to support many other content systems, so I’d guess it may be fine, have you tried the Server Wizard to check (download at http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/requirements.html) - or maybe you could contact amazon to see if it meets EE’s server requirements.

Have you looked at Ellislab’s official hosting partner http://www.nexcess.net/expressionengine-hosting ?

    toadityakumar,

I’m currently hosting my expression engine on EC2 at the moment. You can check it out at http://www.elevatedbs.com It’s pretty simple.

    1. Create the Database on EC2 (make sure to note down the username, password, database name somewhere).
    2. Upload the installation file to ec2-user home folder via SCP.
    3. Move the folder to /var/www/html/
    4. Unzip the folder and it’s contents
    5. Follow the normal installation guide provided by EE.
