I have a local copy of a live website that I’m using to test an upgrade to 2.7.0 before attempting it on the live version. For some reason, the file manager is only displaying a fraction of the image files that are in my uploads folder. The files are all there, with correct ownership and permissions, but the only way I can get the file manager to see them is if I re-upload them within the file manager and over-write what’s already there.
Any suggestions?

I’m also experiencing this issue. Though for me this isn’t limited to images.
I have some .zip files, .jpg and .mov files. For ease and speed I uploaded them all by FTP, then used the synchronize button for the directory on the file upload preferences page in the control panel.
About a third of the files (a mixture of .zips, .jpgs and .movs) appeared but the others just don’t show. I double checked the exp_files table and sure enough no records were created for them even though the synchronization process ran without any errors being produced (and the progress bar reached the end).
I’ve double checked the mime types for the files and looked at the mimes.php file in the system config folder. All the mime types required do appear in the mimes array.
I’m on EE 2.7.0

Yes - that sounds like where the problem is - i.e. the sync hasn’t worked for all the files for the site. I’ll have to manually re-add them if I can’t get the sync to locate them all automatically. A bit of a pain, but it’s do-able.

We’re having this issue too, but on a larger scale, we have 4000 images in our image bank and only 1300 are synching, it really isn’t an option to manually add them, any idea when this bug will be fixed?

Just to let people know if they’re not aware, a fix for the file synchronisation issue has already been posted to the bug tracking issue for it linked above. I’ve just tested it on a local test site I have set up and it’s worked for me. Hopefully it’ll sort everyone else out who has had the same problem as well.
