Moved local site to server-get database error when changing settings in control panel

    Hi Everyone,
I’m a designer and new to EE. I designed my site locally and have uploaded it to my server now. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error and I think I’m getting close finally.

PROBLEM: My site loads and the only problem seems to be that my database settings are all set for my local site and not the server. Whenever I click a link on the site it links to the local page rather than the server page. I realize I should just go into my “general configurations” in the control panel and change the root settings but when I do I get this error:

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1054

Unknown column ‘used’ in ‘where clause’

    UPDATE `exp_security_hashes` SET `used` = 1 WHERE `used` = 0 AND `hash` = ‘6804fed44e82cfdec31dcf2bc5653b1f6dd2b275’ AND `session_id` = ‘e72e20613426351cd05db7e49de397d31097938f’ AND `date` > 1378760376

    Filename: core/EE_Security.php

    Line Number: 169

This happens whenever I try to change any settings including File upload preferences (which is what should make my images load from the server rather than the local site).

Any guidance would be appreciated! Let me know if you need more info as well. Thanks!

If you didn’t follow this originally, I would suggest you start again and use this guide to move from your local server to the live server: Moving ExpressionEngine to Another Server

I’ve moved a lot of sites using this guide - very useful!

Thanks, I didn’t use that the first time around but found it while troubleshooting so I started over with that guide the second time. That’s what got me this far but I’m stuck with this database issue right now.

I had this as well. I think it means the database hasn’t been fully upgraded but the files have. Do you get that problem on your local copy? Also is the database the same on local and the server? I think I solved it by using DevDemon’s Updater to upgrade it to a newer version and it worked out ok.

I used worfoual’s suggestion and fixed it. Had to start the migration from scratch, but reelocate does the trick
