I was pleased by Expression Engines Sample site alone. We have a Video Production company that also does social media and web dev services. The main business niche is Video Production. I am not familiar with all the bells and whistles of Expression Engine and we are seriously evaluating it.

    Here are some current specs:
Back-end for clients to view videos
    Blog page
    Team page
    Landing page
    Portfolio page - Videos
    Services page - All services
...well thats about it. hopefully in my sleep I can come up with some ideas.

My main question is what kind of user interaction we could ad to the site without getting too over the top that would meld well with that kind of business and utilize Expression Engines Modules.

I will be going to the live presentations in the next few weeks to get up to speed. Any ideas constructive or not would be great. We are a creative company that works mostly for small businesses so i’m sure we probably can’t hamper our image too much with a few items of inspiration.

Well haven’t slept yet and haven’t thought about this issue either. I need to talk with Expression Engine Sales. Opinions on EE speed to development? Will EE be around for long enough to implement new websites with the new owner coming in.

    New owner?

EllisLab is looking for a new owner for CodeIgniter, not ExpressionEngine.

EE can do everything you list - but rather than ask “what can EE do that would work well with our business” you should be asking “here’s what we need to do on the web with our clients” and see how to accomplish it from there. Most likely EE will be able to do it, but be customer-centric rather than CMS-centric in your approach.

“here’s what we need to do on the web with our clients”

I am moving to Southern california and would like to get   more creative type freelance work. I am stronger in the desktop environment with C++ and Java however I need more UX/UI experience regardless. Out of the box,  EE does what I need it to. Membership pages, RSS and all the security and bells and whistles of a standard CMS with the customization of codeigniter. I would like to eventually get together a front end web team/mobile team and a back-end team together until then its just me. What does this all mean, well with EE current set up will overcome my current lack of php/web programming skills allow a break through the business barriers we need to in order to promote with our niche market. Although, Java and C++ are not implemented on the back-end the Channel and Tag structure and my current experience with codeigniter, i hope, will allow me to be productive in the next 2 years and beyond. Thanks for the response.
