Takes 15 minutes to load any page in admin

    Hi All,

We use ExpressionEngine on several client sites without any problems, however one of our sites has just started acting up in the past week or so. The site has been running for about 6 months now without any problems until now.

Essentially - Loading any admin backend page takes 15 minutes every time.

The frontend of the site loads quickly without problems, same as always.

The backend seems to hang when going to any admin page, but if I leave the browser tab open, the page eventually loads after 15 minutes has passed.

At the bottom of the page it says something like -  Script executed in 925.7565 seconds - It’s always around 925 or 926 seconds.

Everything was working fine but one day last week this started happening. No changes have been made on the site recently. Debugging and logging doesn’t show anything unusual. The server admins tell me they have not made any configuration changes or software updates recently. I downloaded the database and files and set them up on a local server. Everything seems to load quickly without any problems.

We have a small member’s area on the frontend of the site, which confirms that I am logged in and can browse the frontend of the site as a logged in member without problems. It’s only when going to admin pages that they take 15 minutes to load every time.

I’ve tried a number of things to resolve this, including clearing the cache files, checking config files, etc. but to no avail. Haven’t found anyone posting the same problem.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like something having to do with DNS resolution. Check your theme directory settings.

I added these two vars to config.php with the correct paths, but no change. These were already set in the ‘General Configuration’ page.

    $config[‘theme_folder_url’]
    $config[‘theme_folder_path’]

This site has been running for the past 6 months without any issues until late last week, so all the config settings should be ok.

Our EE clients are having the same issue because of a latency issue. If your sites are hosted on Engine Hosting you may need to contact them.

The site is on the client’s server network, anything in particular I can advise the server admins to look out for? I don’t have access to the server itself, so I need to point them in the right direction.

    Thanks
