We are currently running ExpressionsEngine 1.6.7.  We are looking into our options to upgrade.

    1. What is the price to do so?

    2. Is there a process to guide us through the upgrade?

    3. Because we are so many versions behind will we loose anything or will anything visually/database wise?

    4.  Do you offer any packages to complete the upgrade for us?  We are having a hard time finding anyone to work on our site for us who knows the platform.

    5.  Is there a sales staff to call on the phone and discuss our option?

I made the switch and I can tell you my upgrade price was $50. The instructions on the web site are pretty clear and the upgrade.php does all of the work.

The only thing I had to do to make the transition was disable my gallery as there is no gallery function within the new software.  But there are a few great ones out there such as channel images and Matrix. I use both but prefer Channel images

EllisLab does not offer upgrade services, if that’s what you were asking.

The basic process for upgrading can be found in the documentation.

However the reality is that depending on how the site was configured by the original developer the process can be way more complex than the docs state.

Mainly it’s an issue of which - if any - 3rd party tools were used in the 1x version of the site, and if so what did they do?  Some can be replaced with native functionality, some probably have 2x versions available, and then some might not.

What will need to be done is an inventory of the existing site, identifying where 3rd party code is used, and the researching options.

The results might be that an upgrade is a straightforward process.

Or - as in the case of a few of my sites - a rebuild in EE2 was just easier.

EE developers can be found with some simple searches - start at http://director-ee.com.
