Have to admit I’m getting fairly fed up with EE at the moment. Every time I go to work on it I find some new bug or an issue that stops me getting done what I went to do on it in the first place. This time the problem I’m having is that I can’t log in to the control panel. When I enter my login details, the page just refreshes. No error message, just a page reload.

I’ve tried everything from the following threads:
can’t login to CP
Can’t login to site CP, page just refreshes
Can’t login to site CP, page just refreshes (redux and with a kink)
Login Loop

EE Version: 2.5.5
I have been getting this error intermittently on EE 2.5.5. Today I upgraded to 2.6.1, which meant I couldn’t login 100% of the time, so I’ve rolled back to 2.5.5 for the time being until this is fixed

Browsers tried: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, all most recent versions
Development Environment: localhost apache 2.2

Any support greatly appreciated

You may be way past checking this… but are your other specs above minimum? http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/requirements.html#server-requirements

Another thought: does it make any difference in going to http://your_site.com/your_system_name/index.php vs http://your_site.com/admin.php ?

Hi, not sure I can do that - I’ve moved the system folder above the root - file structure on my local machine is:

htdocs/site_name/public_html/index.php
htdocs/site_name/public_html/admin.php
htdocs/site_name/system/index.php
