Im just surfing atm. (a lil break from actual work that i do to my site). I found CometChat, that should be more than easy to install and integrate with EEsite.

I then read the installation guide over there, and one thing made me wonder, i dont have global variable called html_head where the installation is referring.

So basicly that one line of guide made me wonder, is the installation that simple as they are saying over there, i get the feeling that its not.

So, is anyone using CometChat in your EEsite, and if so, was it as simple to integrate as they are selling?

I have used a close alternative http://www.arrowchat.com/ but only in a sandbox and it worked pretty good.
http://www.flashcoms.com/ was in my notes as an alternative we looked at…all this was 1-1.5 yrs ago so things could have changed.

I would tend to believe them that integration with with Cometchat should not be that hard either since all they are doing is grabbing a session or a variable, EE handles the authentication as normal.

Thanks for letting me know about these!  I have been wondering about this myself recently.  I only knew about Blab (http://hot-things.net/blab-ajax-php-chat) with EE integration but I have never tried it myself.

    Yes, We used them too
It is a good product, just not open source we have to customize for coding
