Is the EE Wiki a viable solution in 2013?

Can anyone link me to an example of a living web community that is currently curating content and collaborating with the EE Wiki module?

I’m considering using it and have installed it to trial but I found a few features to be clunky. Perhaps I’m overlooking but I searched the forum for Wiki discussion and was a bit surprised to see hardly any discussion about the use of the module (in recent years anyway).

I’d like to see a real-life example of how it’s being used. I think it would help me to understand how categories are populated etc.

Any advice would be great (would be good to see either a recommendation for the module or advice on other options).

    Boyink!

    5011 posts

The wiki was a quick feature-add a number of years ago and I don’t think I’ve seen significant changes to it since it first debuted.

I use it for a personal project, but I also can’t think of a sighting of it “in the wild”. Wikis are hard enough to get a group of non-total-techheads invested in, were it me I’d be looking for an easier one to work with.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Kind of consolidates my thoughts. I would like to look into doing it with channel entries categorised using relationships of some sort.
