I’ve come back to do some work on this site after a few years:

However, the upgrade to 1.7.3 seemed to fail at 1.6.6.

I tried a variety of things, from rolling back to upgrading PHP from PHP4 to PHP5.2.

Eventually, the upgrades seemed to go through smoothly and the site is back.

However, no matter what link I click on, I simply get what looks like the homepage.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The control panel seems to be fine. I’m guessing this is a problem with index.php or a file that it calls, but I’m at a loss as to what that would be.

I remember this sort of a problem being related to query strings. Try turning on the force query string setting in the output section of the System prefs. There’s also a qtype setting in the index.php file that might help with this. The old EE support site had some good info on this sort of problem, but not sure where it all got moved to.
