Need to have users upload images on front-end via Safecracker but they need to be a specific width and height - otherwise could just limit the width - so really is going to need some cropping functionality.
Anyone done this? Add-ons? Is it possible?

Hi Tarquin,
Would the “Max Image width” and “Max Image height” in the file upload preferences not work for you? Unless you still want the image to upload but then auto resize/crop it. Is this how you want it to work?
Cheers,
Mike

Yeah it might come to that….. the problem is that who knows what people will upload and in what proportion. I am leaning towards letting them upload what they like and have an admin crop it (they have to check the submission anyway) in the CP….thanks Mike

If you will be checking each submission then I think letting them upload what they want and resizing it after should work for you. Other wise you can look at one of these add-ons:
http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/img-resize (free)
http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/image-autosizer (free)
http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/ed-imageresizer (free)
http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/image-sizer
http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/ce-image (Not free)
I hope that helps.

Thanks Mike…I think I checked most of them and DevDemon’s module - none of them have front-end cropping do they though? Not as far as I can tell..
Thanks for that! Cheers!

There are a few that you can run after the upload is done to resize the image to what ever size you want. What I would do is upload the image then display it on a confirmation screen after it’s uploaded or something like that. This way you can call the image resize add-on to resize the image for you to what ever size you want 😉. I hope that helps.

Mike

maybe I don’t get the main point that you want to express .the images will be automatically resized while uploading .well ,you want images resized at specific width and height so that it won;t be changed alot when you upload it?I got image crop add-on via google for you ,you may check.
