If you’re seeing a bunch of control panel errors this morning (maybe only applicable if your installation is a bit out of date) see this thread:

It’s read-only… I have no idea why Ellis Labs keeps archiving its forums… but the solutions in there fixed the issue for us.

These are warnings caused by the version checker.  It appear to only affect older installations; I’m not seeing this on my v2.5+ installations.

    The quickest fix:

    1.  Turn off version auto-check
Admin -> General Configuration -> set “New Version Auto Check” to No

    2.  Disable the ExpressionEngine Info accessory
Add-Ons -> Accessories -> ExpressionEngine Info -> uncheck all Assigned Member Groups

We’re seeing this error on various sites. This same issue appears to have happened back in February, 2012 (http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/211714/). As was the case back then, the website at http://www.expressionengine.com/ is down (“whistle while you work”). I assume that this must have something to do with the launch of the new EE website, which is redirecting traffic to a directory under ellislab.com. This appears to be disrupting the version checker.

We’re experiencing it too - perhaps only on versions before 2.4.

The above solutions seem to take care of it.

Any official word from Ellis Labs?

experiencing the same issue with v.2.1.3 - the above 2 steps fixed the issue but it would be helpful if EllisLab posted something more official about this… thanks!
