We are trying to throw something together quickly and this is our first go with Multi-Site Manager.

It appears that this functionality is broken.  We are using EE 2.5.3.  When I create two simple custom fields (Text Input and Textarea), I cannot bring these fields into the Publish page.  The little open/shut eye icon in the sidebar is missing for theses fields.  What can we do???

The first thing to rule out, is that your custom field group is actually assigned to the channel. The behavior you’ve described is what happens when its not.

Admin > Channel Administration > Channels > Edit Group Assignments

The next is to reset the layout of the publish page and we frequently start all troubleshooting by clearing all caches in the system.

Could it be something simple like this?

Resetting the Publish layout worked.  Thanks.

    Glad to hear it upshot!

Say, there are a couple of bug fixes/patches/hacks for the current MSM in the bug tracker (linked above) that you may want to add to MSM before you start messing with any of your member groups. Just search on “MSM” and they should come right up.

    Enjoy!
