Move an existing EE site into a separate existing EE site that uses MSM

Hi all,
I have basically two sites, site 1 and site 2 on ee 2.5.3. Site 2 has MSM installed and I now have to move Site 1 so that it too is managed by MSM on Site 2.

Any idea on the best way to do this? Any hints or pitfalls that I should be aware? Happy to start hacking the databases if necessary.
