Unable to save your template as a text file

I’ve just upgraded from 1.7.3 to 2.5.3 and I have no template files on the fielsystem.  I’m attempting to run Synchronize to build out the templates as files.

Permisions on system/expressionengine/templates are 777 and the templates server path is set to the full system path to the same directory.  Still I get the “Unable to save your template as a text file” error.

Any thoughts or issues that haven’t been covered by the above?

    TIA,
    Erik

I had the same issue and found that moving the templates folder (and setting the new server path) solves it. Though it would’ve been nice if this didn’t have to happen at all.

    Scratch ^that.

The sollution though (in my case anyway): add “.group” to the template group folder as in: /templates/default_site/templategroupname.group/templatename.html

    Hello,

I faced the same problem, when I moved my working files from localhost to production server.

    These checks might help:

    1. If you have moved your installation from development machine to server, check if you have followed the following steps enlisted at
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide//operations/moving.html

    2. Tools > Data > Clear Caching > “Page (template) cache files”

    3. Design > Templates > Template Manager > Synchronize Templates

    4. Change the file permissions of all the template files to 666

    5. Change the folder permission of “system/expressionengine/templates” to 777

    Hope this helps.
