    Hi,

on my latest Blog setup I am having the problem that entered Smileys are being displayed as html on the Comment Preview Page inside the {exp:comment:form} but correctly in the {exp:comment:preview}.

They are also being correctly displayed on the actual single entry page (the blogpost).

You can check it out here: http://foxgear.de/index.php/blog/entry/traenen_am_set#kommentare

I guess it has something to do with Comment Posting Preferences but I have tried a lot of combinations there but still didn’t manage to resolve this.

    Thanks and Cheers! 😊

    Hi Marc,

Which version of EE are you using?

Do you have any add-ons/modules installed?

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    I’m on 2.5.2 - Build 20120606

Add-ons/Modules? Yup, quite a lot of them actually. It’s an ecommerce site, so we have CartThrob, Zenbu, Channel Images, Channel Videos, CP Analytics, CartThrob Admin, Freeform, NSM Better Meta, Profile:Edit, SafeHarbor, Switchboard, Custom System Messages, Updater, Wyvern and Zoo Flexible Admin.

    Cheers!

    Hi Marc,

Thank you for posting your question.

This is actually the expected behavior. The preview will render the smileys but the form is going to show the HTML that will be submitted. I know it’s not pretty. I am not sure if it would make a good Feature Request because the form field needs to be submitted with the html. Maybe it could at least keep the bbcode version for preview. Hmmmm. That might actually be a good feature request.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for getting back with this info Mike Shane 😊,

even if it’s not pretty it helps to understand things and in the communication with clients. I’ll file a feature request because I believe that some users might get confused about the html suddenly showing up and the potential for them to break things rises, even if it’s just for a fraction of users.

    Thanks and Cheers!
