I know this is a very cloudy issue, as there’s a lot of different variables to account for. But I feel there should be more guidelines and examples available to us when we’re talking to our hosts.

    My situation is as follows:

A site tree that looks like:
    domain1
    - admin.php
    - index.php
    - system-files
    domain2
    - admin.php
    - index.php

I’ve used DNS to point domain2 to domain1’s server (with an IP adress). But how do the server know which folder to look in for the config’s? Is this done on the receiving server, and if so, how is it normally done? Do I use .htaccess? If so, how?

I’ve got a similar dialogue going with my hosting provider, and it would be great to have some examples or technical terms to give them.

    Hey there atle,

Thank you for posting your question.

This is all going to be configured on your server totally separate from ExpressionEngine.

You host, when they added the virtual host, mapped a folder for your MSM site. If they did that correctly, then you should be in business.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

    Cheers,
