Hello,

I’m having a little bit of an issue creating new channel entries.

I recently updated EE from 2.3.1 to 2.5.3

Everything seems to be working ok. The only issue is when creating new channel entries it takes a really long time to create the entry on the back admin end of the website and eventually shows a database error:

A Database Error Occurred
Error Number: 2006

MySQL server has gone away

DELETE FROM `exp_entry_ping_status` WHERE `entry_id` = 13619

Filename: libraries/api/Api_channel_entries.php

Line Number: 768

But, the channel entry is successful on the front end of the site..

After the database error shows and I go back to my list of channel entries. The “errored” entry is successful in the entry list.

There are also no errors when editing entries. Only when creating new entires.

Hi,

I actually just solved this issue. It was related to a long list of “Default Ping Servers” that I had manually added.

After the upgrade I guess something went awry with the list. Deleting all of the ping servers I had manually added did the trick.

New entries now do not get hung up and show that database error.
