This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Hello, I sell webinars and would like the entries of a completed webinar to be moved to another channel after the seminar date is arrived.  I don’t want to necessarily close the entry, just want it to appear in a “previous webinar” channel.. Any guidance on date conditionals would be appreciated.. I do have a custom date field.  Thanks..

    Hi Fernando,

To accomplish this sort of thing exactly, you’ll need to develop a custom add-on that routinely checks for webinars that have already happened in the past and changes their channel.

I’m not sure this is all that necessary though, to be honest. What’s the actual goal here? We may be able to find a better way of accomplishing it.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the quick response. The goal is exactly as you said. Once a webinar is finished, I do not longer want it to appear on the home page, but rather to migrate it to a page that shows available recorded webinars for sale.

I’m open to all ideas.. Of course, writing an add-on is beyond my scope of knowledge.. I look forward to your thoughts..

You’ll want to fit this to your site in particular, but generally speaking, I’d suggest setting the entry date and the expiration date of your webinar entry as the same date (the date of the webinar). Then in the templates where you want to display those upcoming webinars, set the show_future_entries parameter in your Channel Entries tag to yes and show_expired to no. Do just the opposite in the templates where you want to show webinars that have already happened. Does that make sense?
