When updating an older build from v2.1.3 to v2.5.3 - Build Date: 20120911 I noticed some problems.

    1) The path to my upload directory was missing,  syncing did not solve this.

    2) The file upload settings do not work anymore. I restricted to max 100 x 100 px, but now I can upload any filesize. Creating a new upload directory with the desired settings had the same problems.

    2) Before updating my username/password was kept in a cookie, so could login into the CP without entering them. Now the fields stay blank. Settings are
Control Panel Session Type: cookies and session id
    User Session Type cookies only.

    Are these known issues?
    Thanks for answering.

Are there issues just with this latest build? I read more on these forums.
Any chance that fixes are on its way?
This was a live site, everything worked. Now I must explain these errors to my client.

Sorry to push my question this way. Hope you understand I must come back to my client with a fix, or some answer that it won’t take long.

    Hello atelier2,

Thank you for posting your questions. I am sorry you have run into these issues.

I have not seen these three issues surface before with 2.5.3, so let’s dig a little deeper and see what it going on.

For the path issue, when you say the path was missing, was the field in the Control Panel blank or did the actually directory no longer exist? What was the path to that directory? If you removed it or renamed it, did you recreate it?

The file upload setting no longer works? Hmmmm. I just tested on my 2.5.3 install and it’d working for me. Do you get any errors or does it just fail to create the resized image? Is this on a new server where it’s possible that GD2 is not installed?

Your last issue with the cookies. That is very strange. Did you clear your browser cache?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you,

    Hi Shane

For the path issue, when you say the path was missing, was the field in the Control Panel blank or did the actually directory no longer exist? What was the path to that directory? If you removed it or renamed it, did you recreate it?

Path was, and should be like this: /usr/local/WWW/A/.5c1/k/XXXX2/htdocs/images/images_products/
The path was incomplete, I beleave the field contained only this: /usr/local/WWW/A/.5c1/k/XXX2/htdocs/
I did not remove it, just corrected the content in the field.

The file upload setting no longer works? Hmmmm. I just tested on my 2.5.3 install and it’d working for me. Do you get any errors or does it just fail to create the resized image? Is this on a new server where it’s possible that GD2 is not installed?

    PHP Version 5.2.17 enable-gd
Get no errors at all, it is now possible to upload to that directory files larger than I limited.
This limitation did work before the update.

Your last issue with the cookies. That is very strange. Did you clear your browser cache?

I did empty cache, no change.
Looked into my key-chain, data was present there.
Fields stay blank. Did not behave like this before, and it is the only site of all my admin logins that does so.

Hope you have enough info now, and do hope for a possible fix.
This server is sometimes painfully slow, could it be that the update failed because of a time-out without me noticing it?

    thanks!

    Hey atelier2,

I am not 100% sure this upgrade went that well. I would like to log in and take a quick look around.

    Thank you,

    Greetings Hans!

The issue with your Upload destinations seems to be OK now. I was able to see all of your files, the paths were correct and I uploaded (then deleted) a test file. The image was over 100 x 100 and ExpressionEngine properly resized the image before adding it to the File Manager.

As for your trouble with cookies and logging in, that is a long standing bug that was introduced in ExpressionEngine 2.2.1

The fix is rather broad and will require an update to ExpressionEngine. We are in the final stages of launching a large beta test. Once we have verified the fix works (this time!) we will make the update available for ExpressionEngine.

However, that means there is no fix at the moment. As the bug report points out, we at EllisLab deal with the effect of the bug everyday.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan, thanks a lot.

The issue with your Upload destinations seems to be OK now.

Meaning one can upload also when file is larger than 100 x 100? That was not before so. EE used to warn and refused to do so.
Anyway, as long as the filemanager resizes there is no chance of stuffing the server with unsized files, isn’t it?

Good to know that you are working on it. Good luck.

    Thanks for assisting.
