    Hi Guys and Girls,

Recently I added another site to MSM making this the second satellite site, I thought everything was hunky dory. New site built and made live, we have just discovered that the new site entries appear to have over written some entries on the main install site.

I have a backup with all the lost data, but why would a satellite site overwrite current entries?

I’ve been through the logs to see if a user had deleted them but with no evidence I have to rule this out. I’ve manually checked the database against the backup and it does look as the entries have been overwritten.

    So how can this happen?
    Have you seen it before?
How can I put the missing data back?

    Hi Steve,

That is really odd. I have not seen this before.

It sounds like the second site is mixing up it’s site id and updating the wrong table. But I am not sure how that would happen.

So tell me what version of MSM and ExpressionEngine you have. Are they the most current.

More than likely we will need to log in and take a look. It’s probably a configuration somewhere, so much easier to get our hands on it. 😊

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane,

    EE Version: 2.5.2
    MSM Version:  2.1.3

The other strange issue we are having is, any shortcuts we add to the navigation usually only work for a day or so. Then when you click them it redirects you to the site itself. At the moment we are just recreating the links.

If you want in fire me the email and you can have the details.

    Hi Steve,

Right on. Sounds like the issues are related.

Be on the lookout for that email.

    Hi Shane,

I’ve just had a similar one. I’ve created a second site, and now I have all my channels and entries in the new one, but lost all of it in the existing one. How can I recover that, please?

    Kind regards,
    Michel

    Hello Steve,

I see that Kevin sent you an email with a question. Did you get that one?

    Hi Shane,

No i do not appear to have it, it may have been gobbled up by my new spam filter. I’ll add a rule for EE, if you could send it again that would be brilliant.

    Cheers
