    Hi there,

Does anyone know a way around to get a member group to be only able to edit their own entries and have no permissions to publish new entries?

It would be useful if the Channel Posting Privileges in EE could split up the Post and edit entries options.

    Thanks,
    Neil

Looking at the member group config you can give them access to the Content > Edit option but not Content > Publish.  Seems like that along with configuring them to edit their own entries would get you there?

    Thanks Michael,

For some reason when I login as the member I can see the entry in the list, but I can’t edit it. EE tells me “You are not authorized to view this page”. Even though the member group has edit permissions and I have assigned the member as the author of the entry in question. :/

Sounds like a possible bug then.

    Hey Michael,

It seems like you have to have access to the Publish section even if you only want a user to be able to edit their own entries but not create new ones. :(

    Hi doubleplusgood,

It seems like you have to have access to the Publish section even if you only want a user to be able to edit their own entries but not create new ones. :(

Indeed. Behind the scenes? EE uses the exact same logic/controller for publish/edit. The effect is that you can’t have one without the other.

You might want to look into the Add-on Better Workflow. It allows for Editor and Publisher roles that provide a workaround for this conundrum.
