My team has used expression engine to develop a large suite of systems at the university of california.  We’re still in v1.72 and feel we’re at an “upgrade or move on” moment in terms of our application framework.

I’m fairly comfortable that codeigniter and expression engine meet our needs and would like to double down on ee. But my leadership wants me to consider porting to drupal—mostly because they know for certain that they can easily hook drupal into the university’s single sign-on framework that is Shibboleth based. (https://wiki.library.ucsf.edu/display/IAM/MyAccess+Integration+ToolKit)

If I can have some assurances / documentation / and/or some promises of support for Expression Engine’s 2.x support for Shibboleth (specifically simplesamlphp) I’d feel much better.  I haven’t been able to find much documentation on this website regarding Shibboleth / saml and expression engine.

Morning Jim.  I had to read up a bit on Shibboleth and SimpleSAMLphp, which rather supports your point there isn’t much documentation on it with regard to EE.  I can’t find that it’s been done, and while there are a number of hooks available that I THINK would make this doable, I can’t say for certain.

I think you’d be a trailblazer on this integration and unfortunately I don’t know enough about Shibboleth/SAML to give you an idea on how tricky such an integration would be.  Wish I had a more concrete ‘Sure, just do ‘x’’ answer for you, but it looks like it will take custom work.
