    Hi,

    I have some questions. I have an eye on EE since one year, but what has always put me of so far is, that you have no Live Preview.

    At the moment I have two websites with multi language DE/EN with WP. However, I am not happy with some things.
    The website of Cathy McAllister http://cathymcallister-books.co.uk is made by me with WP. The problem for Cathy is, to make post by herself fast and easy. The shortcode madness is a problem she can not cope with.
    My first question is now. If I make the website with EE, how easy or difficult is it for somebody with no coding knowledge to make posts.
    Is it possible, to just write the posts without any knowledge and no TinyMCE, what messes always everything up. Often after an update of TinyMCE all posts got an new format, what was not wanted.
    I have some experiences with concrete5 and WP. What I need is something that is easy to manage after construction end and without surprises after updates that take me days to solve.

    Is it possible to copy a text from word and paste it to the post without losing the format (bold, italic and other standard formats)?

    Your help would be much appreciated.
    Best wishes

    Hi Jrlas,

    Thanks for the questions! I’m glad to hear you’re interested in EE. One of the things that first drew me to ExpressionEngine is that it let me, as a web designer, set up things exactly the way I wanted them to be for my client. EE basically let me create a CMS tailored to the needs of the project I was working on. I think you’ll find the same. A couple of things to help:

    Since this site is a multi-language site, you might want to look at Multi Language Module and Transcribe to help there.

    We also have a native text editor built right into the system. Check that out here. Pasting from Word doesn’t tend to work very well, which would be true no matter what text editor you use. It’s generally best to teach the client to write their content within the CMS and to save posts as drafts until they’re ready to be published.

    In terms of having a preview of content before it goes live, we have something in EE called Live Look. With a little bit of work, your client can view her content in EE before it goes live on whatever template you’d like.

    Hope that helps! Let me also recommend this Getting Started video since it gives a great basic overview of the system.

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer.
    One question to the Rich Text Editor. Is it possible to add two different text styles in the menu?

    For example:

    p.small {line-height:1.2em}
    p.big {line-height:2em}

    Sorry for the stupid question, but for me is the text editing the most important thing.

    Best wishes

    Hi Jrlas,

    Yep, what you’re asking about are called RTE tools. They’re a modular way of adding new styles and functionality, and you can find out more about how to add those here. Hope this helps!
