As the title says: my member group can edit categories but can’t add new ones.

The member group has the right permissions to add & edit categories, and the category group can be edited by the member group.
There aren’t any javascript errors, but when I try to add a new category the page just flashes without adding the category.

As a super-admin I can add categories though.

    help ! 😊

    Hi Jan,

I’m sorry for your trouble with permissions and categories!

In order to get you a solid answer, I need to know the version of ExpressionEngine you are having trouble with.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

I’m having exactly the same problem as Jan at the moment and need to give my clients access using a specific member group.

Jan and Luke, since there have been several releases since EE 2.4.0 (including many, many bug fixes), let me ask you to please update your installation to the latest version EE as the first step in troubleshooting this one.

Let me know if you’re still running into any trouble after the update!

    Hi Kevin,

As this is a brand new site I’m alreadying running EE 2.5.3 & ZFA 1.6.1

However I recently created a new member group and used “same privileges as super admin” at the beginning. I’m not getting the issue with this new group. However I’ve also realised that I’m not using custom publish layouts, however I was when the issue was occurring.

I need to do more testing but I think it might actually be the custom publish layouts that cause the error. The member group is just assigned to the layout.

Ok, keep me posted on what you find, Luke. Might also want to keep an eye on ZFA since that changes a lot about how the CP operates.

Jan, how are you getting along?

I’ll update my EE as soon as I find the time to do so 😊
