Everything has been working fine, but recently a client has run into a problem with there site. Whenever they try to Edit or publish any channels they get this error:

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://gopalladio.com/admin/index.php?S=8ad4dc252d2e914cc645619b61bd5065e5c4612e&C=edit&M=edit_entry&weblog_id=9&entry_id=179. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

The server error log says:
       
      Unable to parse XML data

They are using Expression Engine 1.6.8

Any Ideas?

Doh! I hate 500 errors. Love of the cryptic I am not.

Which log did you get that error from? Apache? You might want to also check /var/log/messages as well. Might not be anything there, it really depends on logging levels and what kind of server error it was, but it would not hurt to check.

Were there any changes recently to the server? Maybe a software upgrade, like PHP or MySQL? Can you contact your hosting provider and ask about that? If they did bump any of the LAMP stack a version, you are running an olde enough version of ExpressionEngine that it could potentially be an issue.

Are you able to enable debugging**? That may show us some more errors that we can actually use more effectively.

**To turn debugging on please go to your Control Panel and navigate to Admin->System Administration-> Output and Debugging. Please set the “Display Template Debugging?” to yes.
