    Hi there,

If I buy a commercial license for a client’s website, do I fill out the form with their details or mine? How about the billing information? Should I always buy licenses under my name or the client’s name? Please help.

    Thanks,

    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,

The choice is entirely up to you!

If you purchase the license under your account, you can request the license be transferred to the client once the project launches.

You can also purchase the license under the client to start with and avoid the transfer.

The upside to purchasing under your account is that the purchase counts towards your developer’s credit and discount accrual.

    Does that help?

    Cheers,

I sent this question via contact form earlier this week, and have not gotten a reply. I’m a time crunch and would appreciate a quick answer from someone at Ellis Lab.

I’m a developer and have a client who has approached me about taking over the maintenance and hosting of their site. Their old developer has the license for EE in their account. I would like to provide instructions to their old developer about initiating the transfer of the client’s license to my account. What information does the old developer need to provide you guys so the client’s license can be transferred over to me?

    Hi Andy,

    All apologies for your delay!

I looked for a record of your contact and could not find it. However, you should have an email from EllisLab requesting the information we need to help you.

Let me know if there is anything I can do in the meantime!

    Cheers,
