In this thread it has been noted that if you use the Gallery module and you upgrade from EE 1 to EE 2, the Gallery data stays in the tables (and apparently it is now possible to upgrade to EE 2 without first deleting your Gallery. which I believe was an issue initially), although it becomes inaccessible.
Based on this information, it seems to be that it ought to be possible to construct a solution that allows you to 1) upgrade, 2) export the data and 3) import the data back in, for example with the Importer module from Solspace.
My question, then, is how many others out there are in need of such a solution and how many would be interested in trying to fund a project to create the means for exporting the gallery data and also associated data such as tags? I have a very poor sense of what it might take to do this, I am afraid, but perhaps someone else out there would have a better idea.
