    Hello,
I have really weird case with one of the websites - I’ve noticed missing entries from some channel, there were even missed filed_id’s.
I did a DB restore and things was ok, until next few days when all entries from Another channel was disappeared.

How can this be possible? I reviewed the CP log and there was nothing like delete in actions.

When I should look and more important - what to look..?
    thanks in advance.

    Hey vladyn,

    Thank you for your question.

Wow, that is really strange. It’s hard to know where to begin.

    A couple thoughts.

    1. Your host may be doing things in the background, so check with them. DB restores and such.
    2. What version of ExpressionEngine are you currently running?
    3. Are you using any Accessories or Add-Ons?
    4. Are all your Add-Ons up to date?
    5. Do you have the Website and the DB on the same server?

    Please let me know!

    Cheers,

    Hello Shane,
the EE I’m running is v2.5.2 - Build Date: 20120606
I have a couple of add-ons such as freeform, freemember, vmgchosen member. Accessories such as Morphine theme, mx auto password. Extensions - along with SafeCracker and RTE - Matrix, MX Auto Password, MX Notify Control, MX Title Control. All up to date. Host and DB are on same server.
I’ve granted admin CP privileges to the client, but I think its weird to delete all entries from certain channel just like that.
Is there a way to log activities in CP and database?

    Hi vladyn,

I’d like to offer some ideas here as well.

I’ve granted admin CP privileges to the client, but I think its weird to delete all entries from certain channel just like that.
Is there a way to log activities in CP and database?

What level of Admin access? Have you spoken with the client regarding recent activity? My thinking is the “select all” checkbox at the top of the entries list in the Edit view. If they accidentally checked that and inadvertently deleted entries?

The Control Panel log only logs login/logout activity, so it’s would be hard to track what a particular user may have done.

    Cheers,

    Super Admin.
I’m watching the site from a couple a days and there is no such mysterious activity. I understand that it’s hardly to log delete and I’m also gusting that the client (as I’m not sure how many people having access to edit / delete entries) was accidentally deleted them. It will be good if there is a third party add-on to log such activities

Indeed. But using ExpressionEngine Member Group permissions can help here too. Rather than grant everyone Super Admin access, which can be accidentally destructive, make a new Admin group based on Super Admin. Then you take away the permissions the group does not need. For example, don’t allow the group to delete entries. Then train the users to close entries via status rather than delete them.

That functionality is already built into ExpressionEngine 😉

    Cheers,
