I was in the process of drafting our Fall newsletter and did not publish/submit it yet but Google Alerts was able to pick up on the Fall Newsletter. Is there a way to prevent google alerts from obtaining this information? Is there a setting that I am missing to prevent this?

Google alerts is only able to find information that is publicly available on the web, you might want to check with your web developer and make sure any livelook or preview templates are password protected / not available to web crawlers.
