I am getting the following error when i edit or publish anything that uses file_field:

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Notice
    Message: Undefined index: filename
    Filename: libraries/File_field.php
    Line Number: 77

i just updated form 1.6.9 to 2.5.3 anyone have ideas what might be causing this or how to stop it?

I had the exact same error message. I just upgraded from 2.1.0 to 2.5.3. This is what worked for me.

Go to: content > Files > File manager > File Upload Preferences

Click on the icon that says “synchronize” (if you have several folders you need to do this for every one of them).

    Hello IRIS_HQ,

    Thank you for your question.

swedenfishing says that he had the same issue and it was solved by syncing files. Can you give that a try?

If that does not work, can you make sure that you have uploaded all the files from 2.5.3 and that you have the file field type installed? Control Panel->Add-Ons->Field Types

Please let me know how that goes.

    Cheers,

    Hey Alfredo Canales,

What version of ExpressionEngine are you currently on?

What version did you upgrade from?

I will try and reproduce, I may need to upgrade from the same version as you to reproduce this exactly.

    Thank you,

I had tons of problems after upgrade (all solved now). Since that didn’t work for you I can’t be 100% sure it was actually just that fix that made it for me (it seemed like it, but it’s possible it was one of all my other fixes that made it). I had an old version of the Matrix field type 2.1.2 (not tested with a newer - not using it anymore) and when I unistalled it, it fixed a lot of my PHP error messages.
