Situation: Front end and admin displays fine but I am unable to open and edit templates. Backend pages are currently loading as blank/white screens.
Thoughts?

That’s frustrating. When did it start? Where there any changes recently?
What versions of PHP and MySQL is the server running? Do you know if your hosting provider upgraded those recently?
If you answered yes to any of these, then you may need to upgrade to the latest version to accommodate the server software updates. But before you do that, you will want to think about upgrading to 2.5.2 as opposed to 1.7.3 as support for 1.X is coming to an end. Depending on the Add-Ons you have, it’s probably a good idea to go for 2.5.2.
So check out the versions and let me know if there have been any other changes and we can go from there.
