I’m looking for a way to deny access or disable the member registration form in the EE discussion forum module. I have a Zoo Visitor registration form with custom fields and anti spam features and I’d like to route all registrations through this form. I could probably modify the forum templates and remove all links to the form, but I wanted to check and see if anyone knew of a better way to handle this.

I think I just answered my own question. I’ve placed a 301 redirect in the htaccess file that redirects to my Zoo Visitor form. Hopefully that will slow down the spam.

    Hi Jonathan,

Just wanted to check in to see if you found a good solution. Did the change you made help slow down the spam submissions?

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the follow up. The 301 redirect to the Zoo Visitor form has definitely slowed the registration spam. I was getting 5-10 a day and I haven’t seen any since I made the change.

That’s great news! Thanks for letting us know. I’ll close this thread up since it looks like that took care of it for you, but if you need anything else, just let us know!
