I’ve been looking around in an effort to find a EE shopping cart to replace a simple Amazon cart that supports “customers who like this also bought that” kind of event.  I have not found any out of the box that would without some rewrite.  Anyone know of any that support this out of the box?

We use http://cartthrob.com/ for most of our E-Commerce site builds, it is really flexible and allows you to build your site using all of EE’s flexibility. The way I would build something similar to what you are after is to create relationships between products either using EE’s relationship model http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/relationships.html

or using another go to plugin called Playa http://pixelandtonic.com/playa from Pixel and Tonic. You can then create your products and relate them to other products which may be of interest- if your going to want to relate more than one product then you will have to use Playa as you can only relate a single entry using EE out of the box.
